How to enable LG's Quick Remote on custom AOSP-based ROMs?

Devices like LG G2 and G3 are equipped with an IR blaster which is very useful for controlling devices such TVs, projectors, radios, set-top boxes or even air conditioners. Unfortunately, the IR blaster and the QuickRemote app itself worked on the stock ROM (and custom ROMs based on this stock version, such as CandyG3) and if you wanted to flash an AOSP-based ROM, you had to live with the fact that the QuickRemote will not work. Well, not anymore.

The "guys from the XDA", exactly sefnap, RieGo and zzeneg have ported the QuickRemote app for LG G2 and G3 and made it working on all AOSP based ROMs.

The default SELinux policy for android was changed to enforcing mode in Lollipop to increase security. This restricts the functionality of some apps, so for QuickRemote to work we have to change the SELinux policy back to permissive mode until we have a better solution.

Instructions? Classic; just flasth the ZIP. Don't forget to make a backup, or at least download the uninstall version zip (that will remove the mod once flashed).

First make sure the init.d support is enabled, you can use this app.

NO ROOT - Disable "Knock Knock" on your LG device and get more battery life!

I was playing with my G3 and discovered a way to disable the Knock Knock feature which helps the user enable the screen without even touching hardware buttons just by double tapping the screen.
I don't use this feature very often, so I decided to disable it. Guess what, my battery life is now more amazing than ever before!

No, you don't need to be rooted to disable the Knock Knock feature. It's pretty easy. All you need to do is to access the hidden menu on your LG device and simply disable it.

To open up the hidden menu, open your Dialer app all input this number (according to your carrier/version):

  • 3845#*855# (for International model)
  • 3845#*851# (for T-Mobile)
  • 3845#*850# (fot AT&T)
While you type the last digit, the hidden menu will appear. What's next? Scroll down till you see the Knock On/off setting and just disable the function. And viola, here you have it!

I was really surprised when I got 70% with my full day of usage on LTE. I usually end my day at about 50% so it seems to pump up the battery life a bit.

Enjoy!

Get LG Knock Code on your Android device!

LG recently showed up the new feature called Knock Code, which is a new way of protecting your device. Instead of PINs or passwords, you just knock the screen. It's easy, fast and intuitive. And now, you can get this feature right to your device as well!

There are four tiles in Knock Code security. To unlock your phone, you need to knock the right combination of the tiles.

Check the author's video for demonstration:

Now, to get the Knock Code on your device, you have to be rooted and have Xposed Framework installed. (Yes, this is an xposed module. For more info about Xposed Framework + download, please click HERE).

After installing and enabling the module, you should have your Knock Code installed on your device.

If you install Xposed Framework for the first time, nandroid backup is suggested.

PORTED - Get LG G3 ROM on your G2

The new LG's flagship, G3, has just been released but its ROM is already ported! For G2 users, there's a good news, you can get it right now!

There's not only one port, but already two full-ROM ports from different developers: Cloudyfa and OptimusRs. Both of the ROMs should be stable and contain all G3's features.

As mentioned, there are two builds:

Both of them should be stable enough, though you should definitely make a backup. Installation is basically the same, flash via recovery. You need to flash the KitKat Baseband on OptimusG3 ROM.

Both of the ROMs are coming with Aroma installer.

If you are informated about the Android world around us, you probably know the awesome LG G2's 3D Wallpaper called "Polar Bear" that looks like a normal 2D wallpaper, but as soon as you scroll around the homescreens, you can spot an awesome looking 3D effect and the ordinary 2D wallpaper suddenly turns into an amazing 3D live wallpaper.

Get LG G2's Knock-Knock Function On Your Nexus Device Wtih TouchControl!

The current flagship from LG - G2 has brought a lot of new features and stuff including cool Knock-Knock (touch2wake) feature, which enables the screen with just double-knocking the display. This feature is now available and you can actually get it on your Nexus phone by using an awesome TouchControl app!
+Bartosz Ponurkiewicz, known as bponury, the creator of awesome hacking and spoofing apps like Faceniff or Wifikill, has also created the TouchControl app - an awesome, useful, yet very simple app letting you to take control over your phone's screen while it's off.

You can enable the screen by various gestures:

              • Slide2wake (slide the finger to wake your phone up)
              • Slide2lock (lock your device by sliding your finger)
              • Slide2media_next (skips song by sliding)

              • doubletap2wake ("knock knock" G2's feature)

The app is currently available for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 (2013). It also works only with custom kernel supporting this feature (check here).

[APP] Original LG Optimus Lockscreen ported for all Android devices!

Another LG Optimus port brings the original LG Optimus lockscreen with all its features with no root needed! This lockscreen offers a complete LG UI with all the lockscreen features and lockscreen effects - particle, crystal, dewdrop, ripple and whitehole effect. All of these effects looks like on the original LG Optimus phone and it's basically the same.

andev888 is continuing his development and recently he's made a LG Optimus Lockscreen app which contains absolutely everything that is contained in the original LG locker. Well, check the screenshots -

[APK] LG G2 Stock Keyboard - Ported

LG G2 is currently one of the most powerful and most equipped devices with he nice design and stuff. The supersstructure of this device looks also very cool - the lockscreen, homescreen, widgets and keyboard, which has been ported and it's now available on all devices!

LG G2 keyboard is well-known by its themes and customization, check out some for more info:

LG-G2-Stock-Keyboard-Themes

LG-G2-Stock-Keyboard-Settings

The whole app can be downloaded HERE and can also be installed in usual way.
However, if your device is rooted, you can get some extra features - 5th row, split keyboard, emoji and more.

These functions can be enabled in build.prop navigated in /system using root browser. To enable these features, download the app (version for rooted devices) and  simply add these lines after the text (do not delete the previous text in build.prop):

  • ime_extend_row_keyboard=true
  • ime_onehand_keyboard=true
  • ime_split_keyboard=true
  • ime_vibration_pattern=0:20
  • ro.config.libemoji=libemoji_lge.so
  • ro.lge.capp_emoji=true

Then save the build.prop and finally reboot your device to take the effect.
Do not try to modify your build.prop file without having a nandroid backup - if a problem appears, you may be stuck in bootloop and brick your device without a return!
